Tree Drawing Machine

The Tree Drawing Machine is a temporary environmental installation that explores trees within a temporal environment rather than as static unchanging artifacts. It offers viewers an enticement to stop and look, to appreciate the beauty of trees as individuals, reflect on their longevity and their importance both within the environment and to human wellbeing.

The Tree Drawing Machine works by transferring the movement of an individual tree’s branches onto prepared copper plates that are then acid etched for the production of limited edition Tree Etch Prints using traditional print making methods.

Each Tree Drawn Etching is a unique artwork capturing a moment in the tree’s existence and reflecting the climatic conditions at that precise moment in time. Each print is an artwork created by an individual tree - the artist merely taking the role of print technician.
